Message from the Chair

I am honoured to have been appointed Chair of the National Seniors Council. I know that this important Council will be a valuable voice in the national discussion on seniors' issues.

The National Seniors Council has been established to advise the Government of Canada on all matters related to the health, well-being and quality of life of seniors both now and in the future. As needed, it will commission research, convene expert panels and round tables, and hold consultative meetings.

The National Seniors Council has been given an opportunity to speak to a wide audience about seniors' issues and provide the federal government with our best advice on issues of importance to seniors. The Council is interested in your views on how we can best consult with seniors and seniors' organizations. Please feel free to contact me to express any views that you may have on issues relating to older Canadians.

I am happy to be working with Minister Solberg, Minister Clement and Minister LeBreton on this exciting new venture. The federal government is counting on us, and seniors are counting on us. I look forward to the challenge.

Sincerely

Jean-Guy Soulière
